1st 9-weeks almost done

Wow! It has been 9 weeks of school already! The Chromebooks are working out very well! I'm enjoying the ease of use and the battery life.

I've been using Socrative and really like how easy it is to check the understanding of the students. www.socrative.com

Our school has also been using iStation for our K-2 students. It is a great site for developing young readers! It isn't free and I usually only promote free sites but it is worth looking into if you need additional help with your readers.

Getting Closer to School Starting!

Hi everyone!
It is getting closer and closer to school starting! I can't believe that I only have 10 more days to get everything ready to go!

I'm working on some video tutorials for Google sites and other web 2.0 tools. Email me if you know of one you absolutely need asap!

Enjoy the rest of your summer!

PicMonkey | What size should I make my photos?

What size should I make my photos?

Last Updated: Jul 12, 2012 01:10PM PDT
Trying to convert those ethereal pixels into cold, hard, printable inches? Look no further. Here are the conversions we recommend for the following common photo sizes:

3x5  - 1,500 x 2,500

4x6  - 1,600 x 2,400

5x7  - 1,500 x 2,100

8x8  - 2,000 x 2,000

8x10 - 2,000 x 2,500

8.5x11 - 1,700 x 2,200

9x16 - 3,200 x 1,800

11x14 - 2,200 x 2,800

11x17 - 2,200 x 3,400

Hot tip - If you are creating a collage, adjust the pixel dimensions before you start adding your own photos.

Custom Search Engine

Hi everyone!
Check out how you can make your OWN search engine by Google. I set this up with only a few kid sites so when they search, they are only looking at the sites I want them to. Go here

Hi everyone! We have been investigating going with iPads for our elementary students to explore on and I found this site that gives TONS of apps for educators. http://edshelf.com/

Happy Spring everyone!
It has been a while since I gave you any new sites to try! Here are some of my latest "likes".

PicMonkey - As you know, Picnik closed and combined in Google+ so I had to find a new photo editing site. I have to say that it seems this will be the replacement. It was even suggested by Picnik.

Glogster - EDU version - If you haven't had your students create their own glogs yet, you are missing out on a wonderful Web 2.0 opportunity. Check out the free educational version today!

Tag Galaxy - This is a relatively new find of mine. You are able to search millions of images with a simple tag request. The site that it searches is Flickr. It searches down to the types of pictures that you want using imagery. You have to try it.

WOW

Finally, someone thought of teachers when making easy to use websites!!

http://jeopardylabs.com/

This site includes Bingo Baker, Jeopardy Maker, Crossword Puzzle Creator and Test Creator. No need to have any experience with software.

NEOK12

Hi everyone,
As I was getting ready for my class tomorrow, it reminded me to share this wonderful site again with everyone. http://www.neok12.com/

It has such educational value and covers a lot of areas. Enjoy!

Valentine's Day Ideas

The following site looks like fun for Valentine's projects for the classroom.

Photo Editing Sites to Try

Here is a list of sites my kids found to be user-friendly
1. www.picnik.com
2. www.ipiccy.com
3. www.photo505.com
4. www.fotoflexer.com

Finally, if you like Photoshop but can't afford it, try www.photoshop.com. The editor located on this site is very similar!
Dropbox is a hit with me!

I told you about Dropbox back in October but now that I've been using it for the last few months, it is a must have! Several times I have files that I really want at home and school. Using dropbox, it is as easy as 1-2-3!

Make sure to give it a try! No more storage drives!
So many sites, so little time!

This is so true as I've spent the last couple months playing with lots of different sites. The one site that I will be using in my classroom is Prezi. I wrote that I would be giving it a try and I have. My students have found it easy to use and much better than PowerPoint.

Check it out today!
